President Mantello has been a member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #2 since 1971, and served as 1st Vice Chairman of Local #2 NY from 2000-2005. Brother Mantello was elected president of the Local in 2005. Currently, he represents the Northeast Region on the International Union of BAC Labor Management Craft Committee & International Masonry Institute (IMI) Northeast Region Program & IMI Empire State Area Program Boards. He has recently completed one term as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Capital District Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO.

In civic life, President Mantello is a lifetime Schenectady County Resident, and serves as a board member of the Schenectady Metroplex and Empire Zone Boards. He also serves on the Business Advisory and Workforce Development Boards for Schenectady County Community College.

Our President has negotiated contracts, helped resolve labor disputes, and advocated for economic and workforce development in our region for his entire working life, and remains committed to the principles of solution focused partnerships. He looks forward to working closely with business, local and state government, as well as community advocacy groups in his new role as president of the Greater Capital Region Building and Construction Trades Council. He was elected to that position in January 2009.
