Bricklayer, Mason Plasterer (Twelve weeks in Albany or Syracuse for pre-job training)

• 6000 hours of on-the job training, and 720 hours of schooltime
• Focus is on all aspects of the masonry industry including safety practices, brick, block, concrete, stone, fireproofing, plastering and ornamentation.

How to Apply

The BAC Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee administers the Apprenticeship programs, which are registered with the NYS Department of Labor.

The committee requires that applicants:

• Be 18 years old.
• Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
• Must be physically able to perform the work required.
• Must have the ability to lift 50-100 pounds.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites and related instruction classes.
• Must have valid driver’s license
• Must be a six-month resident of Local #2’s geographic jurisdiction as follows: Albany, Cayuga, Columbia, Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Montgomery,Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, St.Lawrence, Warren or Washington counties.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.

Capital Region Applicants

Applications can be obtained at the Eastern Contractors Association, 6 Airline Drive, Albany, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., every weekday of the month (except holidays); and at Local # 2, 302 Centre Drive, Albany, every Monday of the month during the recruitment period. Central and Northern NY Applicants

Applications can be obtained at the Bricklayers Local # 2, 7705 Maltlage Drive, Liverpool from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on the first Thursday of each month (except holidays). There is open enrollment for applicants all year long.
