Pointer Caulker Cleaner (Ten week pre-job training program in Maryland)

  • 600 hours of on-the job training and 400 hours of classroom training
  • Focus is on restoration work. Duties include but are not limited to, caulking and sealing of joints in buildings and other structures to seal them watertight; applying cold membrane waterproofing in liquid or sheet good rolls; epoxy injection with pressure equipment to fractures and cracks in buildings to restore them to structural integrity; power washing to clean and restore buildings.

How to Apply

The BAC Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee administers the Apprenticeship programs, which are registered with the NYS Department of Labor.

The committee requires that applicants:

  • Be 18 years old.
  • Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Must be physically able to perform the work required.
  • Must have the ability to lift 50-100 pounds.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites and related instruction classes.
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Pre-job training is available in Bowie Maryland at the Flynn National Training Center, applicants must be willing to attend school out-of-state for ten weeks.
  • Must be a six-month resident of Local #2’s geographic jurisdiction as follows: Albany, Columbia, Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren or Washington counties.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.

Capital Region Applicants

Applications can be obtained at the Eastern Contractors Association, 6 Airline Drive, Albany, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., every weekday of the month (except holidays); and at Local # 2, 302 Centre Drive, Albany, every Monday of the month during the recruitment period. Applications can be obtained at the Bricklayers Local # 2, 7705 Maltlage Drive, Liverpool from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on the first Thursday of each month (except holidays). All applications must be received no later than May 6, 2010. Northern NY Applicants
