2009 looks to be a very interesting year for us here at the BAC. Locally, we are working closely with elected officials to protect our work on Fort Drum and we are encouraging our elected bodies to adopt apprenticeship requirements in their procurement policies.
On the State level we are fighting hard to ensure that our members and contractors aren’t written out of the bidding process on SUNY Construction projects. We are also focused on Industrial Development Agency Reform; these agencies provide more than $300 million in financing for construction projects annually.
Federally we are urging President Obama and our Congress to support the rights of workers to join and form unions by signing the Employee Free Choice Act into Law. We do this work through your contributions to the BACPAC fund, and through our members' generous contribution of time.
