From the Political Director/Organizer

The 2010-2011 session looks to be a very tough year for us here at the BAC.

Locally, we are working with our elected officials to maintain the integrity of apprenticeship requirements. We are also working to ensure additional man hours through the use of PLA's on projects both public and private; on publicly funded projects we have strong leverage to succeed with these imporant contracts.

On the State level we are fighting hard to ensure that our members and contractors aren’t written out of the bidding process on SUNY Construction projects. We are also focused on Industrial Development Agency Reform; these agencies provide more than $300 million in financing for construction projects annually, most of which do not have any wage protections.

Federally we are urging President Obama and our Congress to support the rights of workers to join and form unions by signing the Employee Free Choice Act into Law.

We do this work through your contributions to the BACPAC fund, and through our members' generous contribution of time.
