TRAINING PROGRAMS

Bricklayer, Mason, Plasterer

Bricklayer, Mason Plasterer (Fourteen weeks in Albany or Syracuse for pre-job training)

  • 6700 hours of on-the job training, and 720 hours of schooltime
  • Focus is on all aspects of the masonry industry including safety practices, brick, block, concrete, stone, fireproofing, plastering and ornamentation.

How to Apply

The BAC Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee administers the Apprenticeship programs, which are registered with the NYS Department of Labor.

The committee requires that applicants:

  • Be 18 years old.
  • Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) or inrolled in school.
  • Must be physically able to perform the work required.
  • Must have the ability to lift 50-100 pounds.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites and related instruction classes.
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must be a six-month resident of Local #2’s geographic jurisdiction as follows: Albany, Cayuga, Columbia, Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Montgomery,Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Rensselaer, Saratog, Schenectady, Schoharie, St.Lawrence, Warren or Washington counties.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.

Capital Region Applicants

Applications can be obtained at the Eastern Contractors Association, 6 Airline Drive, Albany, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., every weekday of the month (except holidays); and at Local # 2, 302 Centre Drive, Albany, every Monday of the month during the recruitment period. Central New York Applicants

Northern NY Applicants

Pointer, Caulker, Cleaner Program

Pointer Caulker Cleaner (Ten week pre-job training program in Maryland)

  • 600 hours of on-the job training and 400 hours of classroom training
  • Focus is on restoration work. Duties include but are not limited to, caulking and sealing of joints in buildings and other structures to seal them watertight; applying cold membrane waterproofing in liquid or sheet good rolls; epoxy injection with pressure equipment to fractures and cracks in buildings to restore them to structural integrity; power washing to clean and restore buildings.

  • Focus is on all aspects of the Tile, Marble, and Terrazzo industry including safety practices.

Related Training

All apprentices are required to attend a specific number of related training hours, in addition to your on the job training time. I look forward to seeing you there,

 ALBANY SCHOOL

We shall be starting our Prejob program 2/12/2018 Monday through Friday 7:00 am till 3:30 pm daily. We have scheduled classes every Saturday in October 2017 through December 2017, 7:30 AM-3:00 PM to help you meet your educational requirements. Also Eastern Contractors Association will be holding additional training classes. Contact Matt Zink for more information.

SYRACUSE SCHOOL

We shall be starting our Prejob program on 2/19/2018 Monday through Friday 7:00 am till 3:30 pm daily. All 2nd and 3rd and 4th year apprentices are invited to attend during normal school hours to meet your educational requirements.

OSHA 30 hour training courses being held at the Albany & Syracuse Facilities.
